So, what's the common denominator that causes nearly every business to suffer so much grief? Yep, you guessed right, it's their customers. They all say that if they could get rid of their customers their business would run much more smoothly!
I recently came across the Clients From Hell website, which is a collection of actual comments and discussions with clients proving that if you have problem customers you are not alone. There's some classics, and whilst the website is specific to our industry there's a good bet that you will find a few quotes that could just as easily be applied to your company - if you are unlucky enough, you might have already have heard some of them.
Here's a few choice ones from the website that stood out for me;
- Client: I talked to God for a couple hours last night, and he agreed that I shouldn’t have to pay you.
- Client: This is everything we asked for but not what we wanted.
- Client: You design our marketing campaign, we give you 5 kilo bag of Basmati rice.
- Client: I said that to be confusing to show you that clarity is crucial.
- Client: Before we start to work, can you please send a picture of you? We want to work with only good looking people!
- Client: Can we articulate the idea of the nexus of conversation a little bit more cohesively within the design?
- Client: Can you just work half as hard on my job as you would normally do? Then maybe I can pay half your normal rate?
